Thankfully–and for once–there’s a beauty concern that doesn’t affect is. While our olive-toned skin begets shine and breakouts, one thing we don’t have a problem with is landing a nice tan. (And yes that’s even with heavy doses of super-high, broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. We even wear a hat to protect our hair colour. We pinky swear!)
So to try out this self-tanner, we went to the fairest test-driver we could find, red hair, freckles and all. (You know we luvs ya.) And while she was less than pleased with some of the other products we had her try (and thus, you won’t see them recommended here), she loved Pur Minerals Get A Little Self-Tanning Lotion.
“By far the best self tanner I’ve ever used,” she wrote back. “All the others have an underlying scent that I really dislike. The smell is the reason I usually stop using the other brands–it bothers me too much. But this one went on very well, though I did use more than I usually would. Maybe my skin is dry. The colour stayed, didn’t streak, and it looked very natural. After about 3 days, I didn’t have to reapply as I still had colour.”
Not bad for a self-tanner that’s free of parabens, chemical dyes and formaldehyde. And while you get your bronze on, it also conditions skin with aloe leaf and green tea leaf extracts, as well as hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich grape seed extract, leaving skin refreshed with a subtle citrus scent. For best results, it’s recommended you exfoliate to smooth skin before application and prolong colour.
